What happens during a session?
ISBT-Bowen therapy is a non-invasive form of bodywork in which gentle rolling moves are applied to very specific points on muscles, tendons and ligaments.
The gentle moves are extremely powerful in allowing muscles to relax and fascia to become more flexible. These moves are usually applied in sequences. At specific times during treatments 'rest periods' may be initiated to allow your body to rest and integrate the changes that are taking place. This is an essential part of the treatment. At this time you can relax and 'tune in' to your body.
The Origin of Bowen Therapy
Bowen technique originates from Australia where in the mid 50s, it was developed and practiced by Mr. Tom Bowen.
Between 1959 - 1982, Tom Bowen of Geelong, Australia, developed a unique bodywork technique that is now employed in his honor. "Bowen Therapy" or the "Bowen Technique," as well as other related or derivative approaches derived from the original Bowtech® interpretation, include Fascia Bowen, Smart Bowen®, Fascial Kinetics, and Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST). These are now provided to a global audience along with complimentary adjuncts like Emmett Technique. Almost 40,000 practitioners worldwide, spread throughout 59 nations or regions, provide this health technique.
How Bowen Therapy works?
Although ISBT-Bowen Therapy is very gentle it can bring about profound structural changes. One of the key objectives of ISBT-Bowen Therapy is to allow the body to regain and maintain even weight distribution. Correcting pelvic imbalance is seen as a prerequisite for many other moves, as such discrepancies are often the source of seemly unrelated problems. You will be given useful tips and aftercare advice on how to maintain the positive changes initiated during sessions.
On a broader level, ISBT-Bowen Therapy creates an environment for hydration, which optimizes the way cells work. This increases the circulation of blood, lymph and vital energy, bringing positive changes to the whole body.
